In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and all that is within it and upon it. Of all his creation on the earth, he created Man last - his most precious creation. I agree. Though I would add that while lesser freedoms should be protected, that doesn't mean they should always be allowed. Certainly others have the free choice to curse, kill, steal, etc. but I see nothing contrary in attemps made to keep people frommthese actions or punish them therafter.

well, ideally we wouldn't need laws. Laws represent a failure on our part to treat others with respect. But because we're fallen creatures, laws are necessary to maintain order, but such laws should be minimized as much as possible. I like Thomas Jefferson's view: Government should keep men from harming one another - without mutual consent at least - and otherwise, get out of the way.

Course, humanity being fallen, we've had to create laws to protect us more than I'd like - business regulations for instance. But even the most well meaning laws can be excessive. That's why new laws should always be created with great reluctance, in the attempt to make the world safe, we destroy freedom. There must be an accepted level of risk. or else there will be no freedom.
