I like both. For the quail, I would crop - the blob of bright colour in the foreground is distracting. (I saw the picture trunkated while scrolling down and thought 'of course I would have bothered... oh').

Its already heavily cropped and I thought about more from the foreground but then you lose the left side of his body visible thru the grass which I like

I can tone down the big grey patch a bit now that I think about it :)

The quail is lovely, and the fence is ... interesting. Thank you for posting them.

To me, the fence is very evocative of walking in the Port Hills in the colder months.

It was Feb, a week before the earthquake actually and everyone else had a hot sunny day but we had a very localised cloud bank all morning. It eventually started to burn off as we were leaving. I liked all the mossy bits

Most definitely worth it! I especially like the first one.

I like to find a picture that I would have deleted, but might have one or two good features and save it. I love working on a photo to make it better. I only have Elements 11 to work with, and most work is done through just playing around and trial & error. What software programs are you using?

I use Lightroom v 5 for these images. Since I did the Post pro training which takes advantage of new features in V5, my ability to do much more specific local editing has vastly improved :)

If you are serious about photography i recommend the upgrade to LR, its not much more than Elements cost wise and is much more powerful and waaaaay better cataloging
