They are REALLY affordable and REALLY REALLY useful and informative - cant recommend highly enough. Teaches you about all the settings and how to use them. Really good.
Thanks for the link and the recommendation. I will definitely check out the books. So far, I really don't know what I'm doing in Nik, just exploring around and experimenting a little bit. I'm very anxious to try it on some black & whites, especially since I've seen how spectacular yours looks.
The important thing I figured out with BW is that you have to have really good composition and a strong structural element. It also helps to have a good range of tones ie some pure whites all the way up to complete blacks and lots of in between tones.
If its too similar tonally it looks a little flat in my opinion
But more importantly play and have fun and learn :) Thats how I got here and Im still playing and learning too!
