I'm totally with you on this one. Video games are definitely this generation's "evil."
"Various studies demonstrate the negative impact playing violent and sexually explicit video games has on minors."
Various market studies also show that minors are a minority portion of the game playing population now. Men over 18 make the overriding majority of gamers, and women over 18 are growing so fast they've already surpassed the numbers of minors playing games.
In fact, kids don't play games as often as they used to. When I talk to my cousins, almost none of them have the same interest in games I did or my friends did. They'll own an Xbox, sure, but usually with a game or two. Video games have become too complicated for many younger kids.
Furthermore, you're absolutely right. I remember when I first bought a Dungeons & Dragons book to play with. My mother spent a nice amount of time researching and talking to people before letting me have it to make sure I wasn't getting into something I shouldn't. Sure, as kids we bitch about

And our policy there was to just turn kids away when they tried to do that (a policy so enforced that someone I know lost their job because she didn't abide by it) but I always tried to give the kids the benefit of the doubt. I'd explain to them that I couldn't sell it to them without their parents there, I'd ask them if
