I have this same issue. I may not look like I'm working when I'm at the computer with a stack of books, but I am. This is why I get more done on days I make the trip into Cork, despite the fact that I lose so much time commuting.
Argh--the British all-inclusive style of vacationing is odd to me. Someone at work went to Mexico, and I said, "Oh! Amazing. I love Mexico... I've been going my whole life since my home state borders it. Where are you going and are you going to go wander around?" and she said, "Oh, no, we've got an all inclusive resort which has a pool and the beach... we don't plan to leave it."
Eh? Why bother going all the way to Mexico then if you aren't going to *experience* Mexico?
