this is great, how the snapshots pile upon each other to create, um, a collage, if you will. :D love how beckett really needs soothing, how he's looking for distractions in a whole mess of places and finding good stuff, but not what is exactly right; i love all the buttons he pushes along the way. LOVE lester, love him being all smart-assed but RIGHT. love beckett's line about wihsing he hadn't tossed away the box of toys. :D

love this team, man. so much. nice work, you!

Thanks! I love Lester here too - such a smartass, for sure. It's fun to see them becoming equals and exploring that angle of their relationship. :-)

Also fun to finally get this written - all of these scenes have been bouncing around in my head for quite some time!

I love how this all flows smoothly and my favorite part had to be lester! that line made me laugh, and i love how he knows what it is that's got josh all out of whack.

tek being compared to clay's dad was an interesting twist...i loved it.

is it wrong that i'm thinking about writing a story with the red sox at a rodeo? :)

Nothing's ever wrong!

thanks for the nice comments. I had to throw in the thing about Tek and Clay's dad because it just seemed to right, somehow, and also because Josh still is, deep down, a little bit of a controlling SOB and he just can't resist yanking Clay's chain.

to Wake, of all people; that was like serving up a steak dinner to a goddamn vegetarian LOL I laughed so hard! And also love the lines about Clay's dad and Jon's box. The mention of Pettitte's pick-off is fun too! <3

ps: God I love how Josh behaving like a fussy puppy when he's with Jon. How quickly things change!

Thanks! and yeah, like I said above, Josh is now pretty much Jon's equal, no sense in pretending otherwise, so he can drop his guard around him and let Jon see inside. No pretense.

finally time to actually read it!

first thing i thought of was goldilocks - josh has his perfect fit at the beginning but without george, it is too fast, too slow, too high, too low, too not george, and then george is back, and everything clicks back into place. made me giggle a bit.

love how george can diagnose josh at the drop of a hat when the comes back - "You're all fucked up."

"Tell me something I don't know." - and josh doesn't even try to hide it. boy's got it bad ;)

He really does! It was great fun, really, to explore Josh's relationship with these guys, how it's changing in some ways, but not in others. I don't think things between him and Jacoby will ever change (it's almost pure sex, though Josh can be something of a confidant for Jacoby, if Jacoby needs him). With Clay, it's incredibly complicated; Clay's a sex toy for sure but Josh also feels a lot of love, real pity, and a sense of protectiveness toward him, but also likes to pull his tail now and then, just because he can. Jon has been transformed from puppy into peer, and George, well, George is turning into something really special, as much as Josh doesn't want to admit it.
