aw.. it's heartbreaking yet so beautiful. I love the way you wrote how George kept hoping but things just slipped away, with nobody really noticing except for Josh, who took care of him and was also being true to him. argh. LIFE!

But(!!) "hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies". right?

Right. :-) Bottom line, George is an optimistic, cheerful type, which I suppose makes this even sadder. Funny how it's Josh coming through, isn't it?

oooph, poor george. wrapped up in a comforter sounds about right. i love how in the beginning, jacoby just doesn't get it, can't possibly understand where george is mentally. such a lovely way you showed their very different states of mind.
