Summary: When it rains it pours.
Pete felt like crying.
The last year and half had been a nightmare. Every day he had prayed for rain and every day it had just gotten dryer. The crops had died, the land was almost unusable, he'd put most of the cattle down. It had gotten to the point where he was about to lose the farm.
And then it had rained.
Finally, he might be able to recover his losses. He rehired farmhands, started to get the next crop planted.
But the rain hadn't stopped. The river burst. His farm was six feet underwater.
