Now you've woken the dragon

I realize the subject heading might not be fully appropriate given how Viserys would probably make this exact same decision if it was up to him, but even so -

This SOB must not think much of his political career because if he isn't ousted before the next mayoral election then he sure as hell isn't getting re-elected mayor, or elected to any other office in that part of the state.

Anyone who's lived for a time in a FEMA trailer wants to get the hell out of it as soon as they're able. They are far from cushy free rides that people want to hang on to.

Don't you know these folks totally put their homes in the path of the tornadoes so that they could get free trailers for the rest of their lives? It's the perfect crime!

Apparently the mayor isn't even trying to hide the fact that he's hoping the lower-income people leave town so higher-income ones can move in. I would not be at all surprised if we find out this guy took a deal from a developer who's just waiting to come in and bulldoze everything to put up a mini-mall or some such.

That wouldn't surprise me either. I see a lot of that attitude out here in the Jackson 'burbs. Rental properties are frowned upon (because anyone who doesn't own their own home are apparently lazy no-good deadbeats, no matter how rotten the housing market is these days) and the only new neighborhoods built are expensive ones. "Affordable" is synonymous with black or Hispanic and/or poor in many people's eyes. Oh, and guess what the prominent political party in this area is? No surprise, it starts with an R.

...No, seriously, what the hell.

These people do understand they're going to want to be re-elected at some point, right? Or just for a few people in their immediate area not to think they're total scum?

Yeah, this guy certainly put his town on the map, just not in the way I think he was hoping for.

At first I thought it was because they've been found to be uninhabitable for long-term use due to the ungodly amounts of formaldehyde they emit, but then read it's because they's poor-ass double wides. I hope they run his ass out of town.

Yeah when I saw the headline this morning I also assumed that it was because of some sort of health/safety danger with the trailers. We're both so adorabley niave, aren't we?

I suspect people will be happy to come in to town just to help.

Third, and for those of you going into politics I really can't stress this enough, you have to at least try to pretend to not be evil.

I used to think this, but am beginning to realise it may no longer be a requirement.

Holy Christ on a cracker that's awful.
