Something happened back in high school that made me feel Not Safe, and therefore, have a need of Personal Bubble depending on how vulnerable I was feeling. Usually when I'm at full health it's less of a bother, but when I'm not well, I'm aware that I need it.

It's not just space, though I'm definitely uncomfortable with Not Friends being without touching, hurting range. When I eat alone, I'm never comfortable unless my back is to the wall with my eyes on the door, when I'm aware of someone, I feel more comfortable when I can see where their hands are...someone inches in front of me > someone a few feel behind me.

I hear ya. For me it's like my brain can only keep track of so much at once, and that list gets smaller the less well I feel.

Does depression give us great art?

Yes, I recall how it was said that, if Van Gogh had not been depressed, we wouldn't have these lovely paintings, to which I had to wonder, wouldn't it be better for One Person to have not suffered, even if it meant that we had to do without a few more lovely things to hang on our walls? My god people, how greedy are we?????

But also I just think that if Vincent had access to adequate health care, he would have LIVED LONGER to produce MORE PAINTINGS.

Seriously. And Amy's death just goes to show that things like depression and addiction don't give us great art, they take great artists away.
