At 6:30 tonight I decided to drive to an Asian supermaket about 5 miles away to get some red curry paste. I maybe two miles down Route 3 before steam (I thought it was smoke) started pouring out from under the hood. I was stopped at a red light and some guy next to me was like "I think you're leaking your antifreeze". It smelled awful and looked bad so I turned into a Texaco. I thought the car was going to catch on fire for a minute. I popped the hood, and asked some nice guy in his 50s with saltpepper hair wearing business attire if he knew anything about cars (I'm not usually one for asking random strangers questions, but it was a safe area and the guy seemed approachable). He took a look and said my coolant overflow was low, and that I probably had a loose or cracked hose somewhere in the cooling system and that I probably shouldn't drive it too much until I could get it somewhere to not overheat it. I thanked him & he drove off. I called Mom, and then called AAA. They sent a tow truck. While I was waiting, nice man came back and gave me a gallon of antifreeze that he found at a Pepboy's just up the road! An actual good samaritan! I could barely believe it. I totally wouldn't have bought some random person a gallon of antrifreeze. Can't be cheap. What a nice guy. After 45 minutes the tow truck arrived, and took the van to a repair shop about 2 miles up Rt 1 from campus. I'm getting the inspection done too cause I noticed the sticker expires next week. Doh. So, that was two hours of my evening tonight. And really nice tow driver man drove me back to campus. I tipped him. Don't know if you're supposed to tip tow truck drivers (I actually asked and he was like yeah sure) but I didn't really care.
