1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Oh god. Go to the OPERA (La Nozze di Figaro, La Bohème), have a drinking competition, host a dinner party, punting (yay!), have a pirate war on punts, have a picnic- on punts, strand someone on the bank when punting, see the Queen, do May Eve Oxford style, naked people in Fezs and all, watch the Boat Race (on TV), throw pasta out of the Wayneflete, get drunk (properly), BOATIE COCKTAILS, give blood, seen the sun rise over Oxford while doing Physiology questions, BM Part I, started a war with nesting pigeons, pass my driving theory, work with an intern at the WHO, go to Rome, have a drunken conversation with a random guy in Nyon, have ice cream from the gelateria in Nyon, live in a HOUSE, have a house party, beginner's Italian, go to a second ballet (Alice in Wonderland), celebrate Polish Independence day, grow bacteria (unrelated to living in the house), cycle in Oxford, cycle on the right side of the road, learn to ring bells!, watch Carousel, go to London all by myself, go to Regent's Park, miss a flight through my own fault, miss a flight through no fault of my own, steal a bottle, take said bottle to London and take photos of it in all the high street shops to make Robert's Christmas present, watch Fight Club and copious amounts of baking.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any last year, and I won't make any this year. I'm happy as I am.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No. But babies are cute :D
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Fortunately not.
5. What countries did you visit?
The UK, Switzerland, Italy, Malaysia and Indonesia.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
An apron to cook with. A merit in my exams.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don't remember the dates, but:
- Boatie Cocktails (both times)- hilariously drunken times, from Connie palpating doors to my stealing Julian's keys.
- The day we stranded Robert on the bank. Copious punting!!
- The day Liz and I made liquid cheesecake that just. wouldn't. set.
- Visiting London, the day out with the girls, and taking photos of Ernest (the bottle).
- 24th June 2006- BM PART I OVER YAAAAAAAAY.
- 7th July 2006- I passed BM Part I!
- Tingewick 06!!!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Passing BM Part I YAY, passing my driving theory, going to bed before midnight and waking at 7 15 am EVERY SINGLE DAY of Michaelmas 06; except for the weekends, where I never once woke up past 9 am.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Being so lazy I didn't get a Merit in First BM, I guess.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really- caught the flu off Tim in 5th week, and am currently recovering from a nasty chest infection, but otherwise all good!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I wish I could say Immunobiology, but I didn't buy it... Hm. What HAVE I bought this year? Oh- my recording of the Berlin Phil playing Dvorak's New World Symphony, conducted by Herbert Von Karajan, the first volume of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas, my pink newsboy cap, and my llama hat!
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Everyone- Connie for the medicy good times, exam- related depression and ranting, and drinks at the DoC, Kirsty for sharing the opera and other musical goodness with me, Liz for being my constant baking buddy and work buddy, Maja for teaching me card games and drinking vodka with me, Robert and Claire for the Scrubs and good times, Luca for being amusing, everyone for punting, Miranda for talking/ gossiping about everything with me, for endless cups of tea and biscuits, and for always having room for me in her flat, Dani for buying a top from Anne Fontaine, my housemates for making sure I ate regularly, the medics for always being in the PCR with me, Nimmy for inviting us to Boatie Cocktails, my Phys tutor for his wonderful German accent, my other Phys tutor for getting excited about the distal tubule, my Path tutor for being unfailingly enthusiastic about macrophages, and a nameless Path lecturer for his drawings of "Mr Macrophage" and his adventures against the evil pathogens.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
No- one, really.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Food. Entertainment- opera, ballet, concert, play and musical tickets; visiting London. Oh, and rent.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
THE OPERA OMG. The ballet, going to London, and making Robert's Christmas present, because it was so amusing.
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Hm. Dvorak's New World Symphony, the entire score of La Bohème, Mozart's Alleluia, You'll Never Walk Alone, and a whole bunch of other songs I don't remember right now.

Hard work, and seeing friends.

I don't do hate.

Immunobiology saved me on about 700000 occasions, and I really enojyed The Nine Taylors by Dorothy L Sayers. Also, Brideshead Revisited!
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Dvorak's New World Symphony, and the entire score of La Bohème.
28. What did you want and get?
Passing my exams; and a recording of Dvorak's New World Symphony.
29. What did you want and not get?
A merit in my exams (this resembles Connie's, lol). And Wellies. Damnit I want WELLIES.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
It has to be Fight Club, I think- what an amazing twist at the end. Also Happy Feet, and Une Longue Dimanche de Fiançailles. :D
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 19, and I was revising for exams. *sigh*
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A merit in my exams? Wellies. Wellies I could have stomped around in the rain in :D
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Carefree.
34. What kept you sane?
My 700 activities, music; drinks with Connie in the DoC; and chats with friends like Miranda :D
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No- one.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The whole debacle in Korea with the stem cells grrrr.
37. Who did you miss?
My family and friends from Geneva when I was in Oxford, and my Oxford friends when I was in Geneva.
38. Who were the best new people you met?
I rediscovered Molly :); Jim for stranding Robert on the punt with me, the Catz boys for Pharmacology fun, and in terms of amusement factor, my two Phys tutors.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
That there is so much pleasure to be had from a simple thing like a walk in the park, or laughing and spending time with friends.
That cheesecake that won't gel can still taste like cheesecake, and adding gelatin to said cheesecake won't make it gel.
That no matter how much you cook, or how odd it looks, your friends will always finish it.
That if you have no greaseproof paper, lecture notes will do.
That La Bohème would make me cry.
That Flaming Chris and Jons contain 7 units of alcohol per mug.
