This is a bit off topic, but I think that I am going to change the name of my book. It was originally titled "The " [insert my first name, middle initial, and last name] "Story". No wonder the death rate at UC is so high....
I think the reason the "average citizen of Japan" has 50 less hours per year might involve the fact that many females in that country do not work, or work only part time. That would most likely skew the results.
Now scuze me for my pessimism: It won't stop. Competition demands that people keep "improving," doing more and more for their jobs. And as knowledge increases, specialization increases as well, calling for more time invested in one's work. I think it's possible that society will eventually crash because of it and we'll have to rebuild. And then it begins again.

No, the businessmen and stock brokers will just die. And au contrair, my Uncle Marty went to Northwestern for math his senior year at New Trier, and I know for a fact worked harder than anyone at the school currently or in the years Ive been there.
