May I recommend Yankee-kun to Megane-chan? It's Japanese, obviously, and it's based on a manga but I haven't read it. The opening scene (actually, all of the action scenes) is extremely ridiculous, but it kinda adds to the off-beat charm of it. All I can say is by the end of the second episode I was smiling like an absolute doof. Looking forward to watching episode 3. ♥
I just wanted to say thanks for posting this - I hadn't seen any Asian dramas at all, but I've been wanting to watch them and this gave me a good jumping off point (I had no idea where to find them, or what there was!). I'd read Zettai Kareshi so I started with that and then my friend recced me Coffee Prince so I'm watching that now. :D So I don't have any recs for you really (since I noticed you already have Coffee Prince on your to-watch list!) but I thought I'd thank you for pointing me in a direction. :)
Hey, no problem! <3 Part of the reason I posted this was to give some recs to others. I wasn't originally going to put links, but I thought it'd be good because while most Asian dramas are on MySoju, a lot of them are either broken or...not there. I'd give a summary review of each one I've seen too but that would take forever. =_
