Well, the State of Ohio has told them that the only way they can get closure is to see someone killed in retaliation for their child's death. So they have to believe Richey was guilty, and that he "got away with it", because if she died accidentally, or was killed by someone other than Richey, then they have no hope of revenge.
Funny how the maximum sentences of the specimen charges just happen to add up to the time he served, too, so that he's guaranteed to be freed (there being no case against him, a retrial would fail), but Ohio can pretend that he has been treated justly (when in fact he was wrongfully imprisoned for over 21 years). So, basically, fuck the State of Ohio for a crew of sadists and killers.
