It took me a moment or wo to figure out what was wrong with your assumption.
Still, kudos to the Beeb for not describing her as "Lady doctor" or similar in the headlines.

Upwards of two-thirds of doctors are women these days. Only the senior ranks, and surgery, are still male-dominated. Strange that this has shifted so thoroughly within only a generation or so.
