Oh, Merlin. Darin couldn't believe that had just happened. It was official, he could never look Taylor in the eyes again. The bloke had been right of all things. It was just depressing. How could something so innocent backfire so horribly ( Read more... )

Dari came out of the bookshop with a bag full of -what else?- new books. New books made her happy and so her mood was relatively improved. She pulled her scarf more tightly around her neck, trying to ward off the cold. Damn, had the weather gotten worse?

She brightened as she saw a familiar figure coming down the street.

"Hey, Darin," she called brightly, and she couldn't help smirking at the memory of bumping into him with Bella.

Merlin.

He was going to be making that comment a lot in the near future, wasn't he? At any rate, Darin felt a rather uncalled for heat rise into his cheeks and he ducked his head as he hurried to walk past. "Dari. Lovely day out, yeah?"

Now if she'd just leave him be he could off to the castle and safety. Or warmth, at any rate. Safety was probably nonexistent now, or soon would be.

"Freezing, I think you meant to say," Dari said, walking more quickly to catch up to him. Walking with Darin seemed to her to be a good way to help with that whole cold thing.

"How was your.. date?" she asked, just barely managing to not laugh hysterically. Though she couldn't keep from smirking a little.

Darin stopped in his tracks when she mentioned...that. "NOT funny," he insisted, fixing her with a serious look. He was about to add something else but realized they were in a very public place and, frankly, Darin had had enough of being caught in the open for one day.

Grabbing her elbow- and not letting himself think at all about doing the exact same thing to Bella earlier- he pulled Dari into a nearby alleyway. Darin checked to be sure no one was walking by or might have noticed their hasty retreat before turning back to Dari. "You didn't tell anyone did you?"

Darin didn't know where the door lead to and frankly, he didn't really care at this point so long as it was to somewhere. "Let's see." He was already reaching for the nob, which turned easily and without any preamble, he slipped inside and pulled Dari along. It seemed to be some sort of backroom or storage. There were some very cluttered shelves and a row of something Darin didn't care enough to identify running down the middle of the small space. All he really cared about was that the room appeared to be currently isolated. Merlin willing, no one would need to drop in for restocking in the next little while.

Turning Dari against yet another wall, Darin pressed into her and resumed their delayed snog. Much, much better. Though they were tingling a bit from the sudden change of temperature, Darin's hands started working their way down Dari's coat to get it undone and allow him more access to things.

Dari was all for that idea and even if the storeroom was a bit dusty and cramped, there was room enough for what she was sure they both had in mind. And it was much warmer than where they'd just come from. She expected it would get warmer still in a few short moments.

She deepened this kiss with a groan as Darin pressed into her and she couldn't help smirking when he went so quickly for her coat. Suddenly she was very, very glad to have run into him. This was just the sort of thing she needed.

Yep. The coats? Definitely had to go. Done with the unfastening, Darin's hands slid inside Dari's jacket and wrapped around her, sliding up her back to press her whole body against him. The clasp of her bra was entirely too tempting not to toy with and Darin snuck his hands under her shirt to take care of that little problem.

He grinned against the kiss as the material went satisfyingly slack and turned to bring Dari with him toward a more level surface; namely, the floor.

Dari was happy to take Darin's lead and her hands moved to unfasten his coat, pushing to get it out of the way as quickly as she could manage. She gasped at the feel of hands that were still a little cold on her skin, even if the gasp was probably more or less lost in the kiss, and she was more than happy to be led... well, wherever he wanted to leave her.

As long as the kissing and touching and all of that didn't stop anytime soon, she was definitely happy.
