So this week I promised myself I wouldn't spend every night in the lab. But here I am for the second night in a row, here til 9. Grrr... But instead of complaining, I thought I would list some really wonderful things to be happy about. This makes the fourth night in a row that I'm in lab afer 9 PM. And that's after arriving at 8 or 9 every day, not just rolling in at 11 and staying late 'cause I was lazy getting in. I can't believe I'm still awake! I got up at 6 and went into lab almost right away. At school I did 2 Western blots and went to the gym, then left to go baby store hunting. I found 1 very small and lame store and 1 awesome, huge store that I will have to return to with A. I ordered a swatch of fabric from a bedding set I think we will like (it ( Read more... )

I had a very long, very hard day. VERY long. And VERY hard. Sweet A left roses on my desk when he knew I'd be away so I found them waiting for me after a way-too-long meeting. I am very lucky.

Apparently there were not enough new baby boys in the Barony of the Cleftlands. We are going to add another! The ultrasound looked awesome...it's so cool that you can see the baby's skeleton and organs and watch the valves of the heart as it beats. I feel like I've been rushing around all week and now today (a Saturday!) as well. I'm rushing to finish 2 experiments so I can go home and help A finish up work on the study and basement...then I will rush to pack for a quick 1-day trip to see my best friend from college, which will consist of rushing down to Athens, OH and then rushing back in ( Read more... )

...a functioning vacuum cleaner. Especially after weeks of redecorating that generated quite a bit of dust, paint, wood chips, etc. on the floor. A fixed one of our two broken vacuum cleaners, which was a wonderful, brilliant accomplishment. Except that the vacuum had not been used since we lived in an apartment and had 2 cats. I accomplished a wide variety of things this weekend...it was quite satisfying. Recently I've had some unbalanced weekends, where I end up staying too long in lab (or not long enough) and don't feel well rested going into the next week.
