I completed Dark Souls at 80:54:42.
Lord Gwyn smushed me in round one, but I helped another guy win round 2, and then I came back with one of my Sun Brothers and another guy, we won round three. I linked the fires.
It's difficult to remember the last time I spent so much time with a game. I began play on
October 15th, which means I've spent 43 days with it... which means I've averaged 1 hour, 52 minutes per day with this game for the past month and a half. I think the last time I spent this much time with a game was... maybe World of Warcraft, which would have been around 2006. The last time for a single player game like this... well, I don't know when that would have been. Possibly my maxed-out Final Fantasy VII game, and that was in high school.
So, that's insane. But it speaks well to the game, I think. I play a lot of video games, over a pretty wide field, and I found this game kept luring me back to it. Every aspect of it, from the exploration to the difficulty to the cooperative play worked for me. I never once felt like the game was helping me along. I feel that I earned every soul I gathered, every level I gained, every item I discovered. The game beats you, but it keeps drawing you back for more.
I can really see myself going back for New Game+ at some point in the future. Odd to say. I never do that.
