[series]: Tales of Symphonia
[character]: Lloyd Irving
[character history / background]: Here is his wiki page! For more information on the story of Tales of Symphonia, there's this section here.
[character abilities]:
Lloyd is primarily a swordsman - although his method of going about it is different than the usual Tales hero. He uses two swords instead of just one because he's under the belief that having two swords will mean he'll have twice the power than he would if he just had a single sword. Yeah. That's basically his entire reasoning behind using two swords. However, he's still pretty awesome at using them! He's very skilled at how he does things, and he can do quite a bit. Here is a list of his artes, and here is a list of his swords. He'll be coming in with the Material Blades, since those are the last swords gained in the actual storyline, and they're used in all future appearances.

Now, aside from that, Lloyd also has a very special exsphere attached to his hand. It's something that was left behind by his mother, and it had been created because she was being used in an experiment that the Desians were doing. Anyway, this exsphere is a power enhancer, and it can increase fighting and survival potential for the user. These things can be pretty dangerous and life threatening if worn without a keycrest, so it's a good thing that Dirk, Lloyd's Dwarven father, made sure that Lloyd had a keycrest to keep his son safe. This is a list of various EX-Skills!

Aside from that, Lloyd is a very skilled craftsman. It's a skill that he gained from living with his Dwarven father, and he's very good at what he does! He's not as good as his father, but he's able to make things like keycrests, which are very important if someone wants to use an exsphere without dying. Aside from those kinds of things, he is also able to make things like jewelry.

[character personality]:
Well, Lloyd is a good person! He's kind and friendly, and he's definitely the sort of person who would rather be someone's friend rather than an enemy. He lives his life by the dwarven vows that have been drilled into his head since he was a young child. He's really pretty simple when it comes down to it! He cares about his friends a lot, too. If one of them is hurt? Run for the damn hills. Lloyd doesn't like his friends getting hurt, and he will do what he can to protect them. He doesn't want anything bad to happen to any of the friends that he's made.

Aside from that, Lloyd really likes helping people! He will literally do everything in his power to help out the people that need it, and he'll do his best to help them solve whatever they may be having problems with at the time. This actually leads to another part of his personality - his determination. He is determined, and not really one to just simply stop. He keeps going and going and going, and if he starts something? He'll see it through to completion. He's not really one to leave something half finished. His determination helps him get a lot of things done in the game, because he's determined to help save everyone on both Tethe'alla and Slyvarant.

Throughout the game, Lloyd is often compared with Lord Discopants Mithos - he's extremely idealistic and he wants to save the worlds of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. However, there is one very major difference between him and Mithos. Lloyd, unlike the big bad of the game, is capable of acknowledging the mistakes that he's made, and attempting to fix them. Lloyd knows that mistakes can be corrected, and he'll do his best to fix them. Lloyd's idealistic tendencies show a lot as the game goes on. He says that he's tired of people having to become sacrifices, that he's tired of discrimination, and that he's tired of people becoming victims. He's tired of all that, and he just wants everyone to get along despite their differences. He thinks that everyone, no matter who they are or whatever they may be, deserves the right to be alive and live wherever they want to live.

One thing that can be said about Lloyd is that he's... not really the smartest guy around, especially when it comes to schoolwork. He's the sort of kid in class that tends to stare off into nothing, and not pay attention to whatever is being taught at that point in time - something that irritates Raine. He doesn't really like learning new things about history and all that sort of stuff, either, and often protests whenever Raine starts attempting to teach the party something during their travels. An example of how bad he is when it comes to being book smart are the scores he received on a test he took in Palmacosta - his score was only a 25/400. However, despite the fact that Lloyd isn't exactly a scholar, he isn't dumb. He can actually be pretty smart about some things! These moments don't happen often, but when they do? He makes a lot of sense. He's also pretty observant, considering that he was able to tell that Colette was losing the things that made her human as they went through the Journey of Regeneration at the beginning of the game.

Lloyd is also pretty capable of getting angry. This usually only happens when something terrible is happening, but-- it doesn't matter what is happening, exactly, but if it's bad for everyone? Then he gets angry, because that kind of stuff isn't cool. Lloyd is also pretty good at being serious when the situation calls for it, but otherwise he's a pretty friendly guy.

[point in timeline you're picking your character from]: After the end of the first game, when he's heading out on a journey to collect exspheres with Colette.

[accidental video;]

[The video starts, revealing teenage boy that looks pretty damn confused - not that it takes much to confuse him, but hey. He's confused. He's walking around and talking to people, and they keep saying things that he doesn't understand! He doesn't get that whole nexus thing they seem to be talking about so... yeah.

Colette's name may be mentioned a few times, too-- she was with him before he got here, but why is she suddenly gone!? WHAT IF SHE HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED AGAIN?]

COLETTE? CAN YOU HEAR ME!?

[third person / log sample]:

Lloyd was having a pretty hard time sleeping, despite the fact that it was starting to get pretty late. He couldn't think of much to do past staring at the fire that still had yet to be put out. It was alright, though. He didn't really have a whole lot of time to himself usually, anyway - he liked having that occasionally, as much as he loved being around his friends. He couldn't help but think about the things that had happened recently, either. That whole adventure was done with now - the worlds had been joined together, and that problem had been solved. The new Kharlan tree - the one that he had named Yggdrasill was there.

With Colette fast asleep, there really wasn't anyone that he could talk to, either - and he definitely wasn't about to wake her up when she was sleeping as peacefully as she was. He was happy to see her sleeping, too! It wasn't too long ago that Colette hadn't been able to feel anything, taste anything, sleep, or even talk thanks to that whole angel thing on the Journey of Regeneration. It was all fixed now, at least - Colette could do all those things now, but he remembered how he felt when he found out those things were happening. He was upset that it was happening to her, and he was worried. Now that Sylvarant and Tethe'alla weren't fighting for mana anymore, he was hopeful that no one would have to be put in Colette's place ever again.

He shifted a bit, almost knocking his swords off of the log that he was sitting on. He caught them and placed them back where they were, before sighing. There was a lot that he was hoping would change now that the worlds were back together again, and that included discrimination. Why was it so hard for everyone to just put aside their differences and help each other out? Everyone deserved to live and do what they wanted to, as long as it wasn't hurting someone else. No one deserved to be shunned, killed, or enslaved because of what they were. Lloyd didn't want to see something like what happened with Mithos happen again. Discrimination had been the source of everything, and if it was still there? There was a chance that someone else could end up like Mithos, and that they could want to have everyone be the same and want to carry out that same terrible plan that Mithos did. But... he was going to work to try to change the discrimation problems the world had! Dwarven Vow #1 said that everyone should work together for a peaceful world, too. If everyone got in on it, the world would be a much better place, and he knew it. He wasn't going to let anything stop him from changing the world for the better. He was going to keep on trying, because... he could do anything if he tried! His dwarven father had taught him that one when he was younger.

Lloyd sighed again. Thinking about Dirk, one of his two fathers, made him think about the other one that he had. He wondered about how Kratos was doing up on Derris-Kharlan. He wished that he could see him again... and possible have a better relationship with him, but he knew and understood that Kratos had important things to do, just like he did. By now, the Cruxis Crystals had probably all been dumped into space - and hopefully no weird alien or whatever would find them. While Kratos did that in space, Lloyd was going to take care of all the exspheres that were on this new world, and he was going to destroy them. Lloyd didn't want anyone becoming a monster because it was removed without a keycrest, and he definitely didn't want anyone to be used in an experiment involving the things.

After a few long seconds of blankly staring at the fire, he yawned. That meant that it was time to head to bed and get some sleep. He had a lot of traveling to do the next day, after all. There were a lot of exspheres that still had to be found.
