before i even write the thing i want to write, i will say this: i think all people should be able to define who they are, what they want, what they want to be called and so on. if you want to be a woman, be a woman. if you want to be a man, be a man. if you want to be neither, or both, be neither, or both ( Read more... )

thanks for your comment. you have a really unique view point and i appreciate your sharing it with me.

personally, i don't want to make a choice. I really enjoy wearing dresses and make up and being all "girly"; I also really enjoy slicking my hair back and acting like a dude. Ultimately, the thing I enjoy most is going back and forth on a daily, hourly, etc basis. It's awesome and I feel lucky that I have the hair style, clothes and body type to do this.

Maybe I won't feel this way in a couple years, maybe male will seem more correct. Or maybe I'll go back to all girl all the time. But for now, walking the line and falling one way or the other as I see fit really makes me happy.

The feeling of left-out-ness isn't particular to gender - I think it has more to do with being comfortable with yourself than fitting in to any scene. And the people who spew hatred and rage at "cis" people (ignoring for a hot minute the hypocrisy in that word/symbol) are just angry, period. It doesn't matter what they're angry at, really, they're just angry. And they'll always be angry. Nothing will actually leave them feeling happy or satisfied. You don't fit in because you're not angry, and that's a good thing.

Suits are badass. I wear them at Burning Man and I am happy, even though people constantly assault me with questions about why I'm not "participating". C'est la vie! So the price of uniqueness.

How is the term cis a hypocrisy? All it means is not-trans. It is not an insult, a slur, or anything like that.

generally, my personal problem with cis is that it's a big bucket that's too easy to throw a bunch of people into just because they haven't decided to transition (take hormones, have surgery -- that's a huge investment of time/money). additionally, it was appropriated from science and is a bit..incorrect. i would wager the latter is the problem.
