I am searching for religion in my life. I would like to explore many possibilities...can you, friends list, offer me your insights? Would you be willing to share with me your beliefs, your rituals? Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm UU. It's more a spiritual community than a real organized religion, but I'll answer any questions you can think to ask.

hmm well that's kinda a tough question as i believe that each individual should follow a more private spiritual path. Group worship gives a sense of belonging and strength of faith, but i am against masses of sheep flocking to listen to one man and understanding very little; the groups should stay small. as for finding WHAT you believe in, that's something that has to be uniquely yours. I, for example, believe that there is one God who commands the forces of good, but there is a hell of a lot more underlying that belief that I have developed on my own, lesser gods and their subservient creatures, for example. I have found other people who share my beliefs, but they did not influence the development of them in any way. There is so much going on in the universe between good and evil that rituals (part two of your question :-P) can change daily and very few things seem to happen twice. I suppose you could say I'm a paganist/christian ( ... )

I looked into Wicca a while ago and the thing that most intrigued me was a description of the God and Goddess that I found in a book. Now I'm not sure I took away exactly what the book was trying to convey, but from this I conceived the idea of two forces (not the forces of good and evil - I don't really believe in them) who oppose each other but also work together to sustain the universe. One of them is creative, full of life, always growing and changing, and very disordered. The other is destructive and harsh, culling away the weak in favor of the strong, but in this way making it possible for things to become even stronger and have fuller lives. This second force intrigues me. I would associate it with the scorching desert, the freezing cold, the space between the stars, death in all its forms, and basically any extreme you can think of - to personify it, think of the stern father, someone/thing that makes decisions which may be harsh but are ultimately correct. The other force I would associate with life, growth, energy, and ( ... )

An interesting twist and/or complement to this idea is the pantheon style of religious figures, like the Greek and Roman belief system, and more recently, expressed in a newish form in the first edition of Exalted.

BECOME A PARSI! SO COOL! Zoroastrianism is the shit!

Tenents:
1. take responsibility for your actions (Humata, Hukhta, Huvarashta!)
2. don't do things that make you unhappy (lest you lessen your power to FIGHT EVIL)
3. be honest and kind
4. appreciate the world

Worship:
1. FAIYAHHHH!
2. Zarathustra (most awesome prophet name ever)

YOUR AFTERLIFE:
1. a world of light and joy if your words/thoughts/deeds are righteous
2. temporary gloom and sadness otherwise, but no eternal damnation

best. religion. ever. do it.

I miss you! :D
