It's always a thrill when you go to your discussion section for a math class and discover that the TA literally doesn't know how to do any of the problems in your homework set. I'm pretty confident that the professor doesn't, either. Hence, I don't feel bad consulting proofs in other textbooks. Where's the competency

you just went from being my bane who often made me wonder if it was possible to abort one fetus while keeping a second intact to being my hero.

interestingly enough, this is the second time I've heard this asked today. Yes, it is possible to selectively abort one of two fetuses (feti?). It would have to be done, however, early on in the pregnancy to avoid legal issues and other complications.
