I have got a question that had been bugging me lately:

Why are dykes more accepted in society then fags?
If anyone has some insight please let me know because I'm about tired of it.

Thank you very much. I agree with all that you said. I myself have had to get over the whole bisexual thing. I must admit that I didn't understand and made such comments at the ones you made above but I am slowly getting rid of that. Thank you for commenting.

Yeah....I basically have to say that Jackie's analysis, while tinged with a smattering of feminism, is right on target. I do blame the fact that western and eastern society has been in large part a male dominated and run creation.

I think there is much more of the "less threat" reasoning to men being more accommodating to lesbians, rather than the sexualization of lesbians and the lack of such in male homosexuality. Homosexuality, in my experience, often causes true fear and or confusion/disgust from heterosexuals of the SIMILAR sex. But as Jackie has pointed out, the male tinge is greater due to our domination over society.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

Glad your enjoying the theater major.

I have a different experience coming from a women's college...but here I know many lesbians and bisexual women, and they do not feel more accepted by society...there are a lot of prejudices that you may not know about that are endured by lesbians and bisexual women who choose to be more open about their sexuality. Please don't think you know that they have an easier time until you talk to some of them.

I do have a bisexual friend that posted above. I talked to her and she explained to me that in the "gay society" they have it harder. On the other hand I do agree with her that in "straight society" they have it easier. There is a difference.
