everything, I think?

I think I might just be the single most easily distracted person in the world. For months now I’ve intended to update this journal (literally months, I am so ashamed!), but every time I sit down in front of the computer, there will be some interesting book lying about, or the sun will shine just so on the grass, and I will inevitably grab the book ( Read more... )

Since secrecy has never really been my thing, I'll just abandon my air of mystery(!) and tell you that it was Dirty Pretty Things. Also, no, it's not weird, just flattering! I'm sorry I haven't updated in, gosh, since April? Absurd.

Ooh, thank you, and well done to you, too! No, I'm off to university as well... Are you nervous? Is it normal to be nervous? Because I am, a bit Because I AM PERFECTLY FINE.

I'm not supposed to be anonymous, because I frankly don't need to be anonymous, but I'm not a LiveJournal user and LiveJournal has obviously decided to completely (UTTERLY!) discriminate non-LiveJournal users, and it's so late and I'm so tired, so I chose to tick the "Anonymous"-box. But like, I'm not anonymous because I am your band member! (Yes... Liquid Pearl Pots... mmm... better get started writing those songs about flowers, and coconuts, and cocktails, and scones, and teenage procrastination.)

I thought about your LiveJournal and I ended up here. It's getting late and I look like a zombie and I need to FINISH things, but you really are the sweetest band member I have ever encountered. So like, HIGH FIVE FOR YOU. AND, ERM, US. Keep writing, I like reading about your arm-flailing attacks!

Um...I used to think Evelyn Waugh was a lady. Until, oh, two weeks ago. I mean, Evelyn! EVELYN! I didn't know! Every time I saw her his books in stores, my eyes would wander past them because I am a bad person who doesn't just judge books by their covers, but also authors by their names. I know! It's horrible! I ignore boring names! That's why I avoid Edith Wharton, although I also kinda had a Bad Experience with her once (re: Ethan Frome + boring high school English class). But Waugh--well, see, since I avoided her his books due to boringauthorname-itis, I never looked at the back cover, which means I never saw an author photo. How'd I learn the truth? THE WALL STREET JOURNAL. I'm so ashamed ( ... )

Teaches you to judge a book by, well, names! Ahaha, no, I'm sure it's very common for people to believe that Evelyn Waugh was a woman. I am just never going to let that particular teacher forget it, because, you see, I'd handed in an essay about Brideshead Revisited and got it back saying, "Very good, but note pronouns!" and 'Evelyn' circled in red. And then we had an argument, where I was all burning with righteous indignation and, "Waugh did not have girl bits!" There was a heated argument, which was finally resolved with Google. Was I smug, afterwards? I might have been, a bit!

Gosh, you have no idea how embarrassed I am about how long juju_recs has been inactive! Expect an apologetic update no later than tomorrow evening. Thing is, though, that at the moment I'm trying to read books from the list provided by my university (also, Twilight, but frankly... it's a slow read!), and I'm not sure how exciting a review of The Aeneid would be... Will try to hurry up with those, promise!
