this journal is alive and kicking...

…and so am I!

Apart from the living and kicking bit, I am also shocked and dismayed to discover that I haven’t updated this journal for so, so long; doubtlessly, you’ve feared for my well-being! “Where has she gone?” you might have asked yourselves. “Was she really eaten by monstrous mutant cockroaches? Either way, the silence, it is blessed ( Read more... )

You are marvelous, and I wish I had adventures like you. I'm also eager to read about your bookstore crawls--when I went to London, I didn't get to explore as many bookstores as I wanted. Regret!

Thank you, but I'm afraid my adventures are not as exciting as all that! There are no pirates, after all, and very little derring-do.

Oh, no, how sad! If ever you return, rest assured that someone near you will be able to provide you with a list -- perhaps even a map! -- of good bookstores!

There you are! :D I had no fear that you had been eaten by mutant cockroaches, I assure you - I just assumed that you were swept up in the excitement of British academic life and had no time to communicate with us homebody squares. =]

(well, admittedly, I did wonder if perhaps you had been consumed whole by The Most Evil Place On Earth. It's good to hear that you escaped unharmed, albeit without luggage. If your luggage was the only tribute that Heathrow demanded of you, then you got away easy, I promise you! There was every chance that it would have taken your sanity - your life - your very soul! ^_^;;; )

What has been going on in my life does not bear talking about. Be glad that you escaped talking-Daniel-off-the-edge-for-the-umpteenth-time duty - none of my other friends were so lucky. ^_^;

I have been busy, that's true, but know that there will always be a place in my heart for you squares! Also, I usually get along quite well with Heathrow, and so far, it has made no attempt to eat me or my soul. Does it do that very often, or is it perhaps only out to get you? Like, you're the Captain Hook to Heathrow's crocodile!

Aw, I'm really sorry I wasn't there to make brave and somewhat awkward attempts at cheering you up when you were down... You do know that, even when I vanish mysteriously from the internet, I DO check my inbox? Meaning that you're always welcome to send me e-mails!

You're right! It's only out to get me! HEATHROW EXISTS SOLELY TO TORMENT ME!

Ahem.

Awww. Thank you, and I'll make sure to stay in touch the next time. :) I actually did think about sending you a "hey, J! 'sup?", though phrased in a less obnoxious-hipster manner of course, but you know how I am when it comes to taking initiatives. ^_^;

Ahaha, "Hey, J! 'sup?"? I think that would have made me cry with joy and, well, laughter! I think we need to be more obnoxious and hipster-ish in our conversation. You dig? Also, I would obviously have e-mailed you, but you know how I am when it comes to... e-mails. ER.

This feels kind of like the best bedtime story ever for people who don't get real bedtime stories any more. (I apologize for the terrible grammar. It really should be bedtime.)

I really wish my England experience was half as badass.

A bedtime story? Well, hopefully it will end happily ever after, rather than with, "And then the foolish princess ended up contracting consumption, and was forced to pawn her crown in order to pay for her treatment. Alas, soon thereafter the silly chit was eaten by the mouse in her sock drawer, and the prince was able to heave a sigh of relief and pursue the life of a professional golfer."

How was your England Experience? I'm curious now!
