Well, here is a public service announcement - do not, under any circumstances, by a Maytag Electric Double-Oven stove. They have one of the worst records for safety (and standing behind their product) of any stove on the market

Well, I can't recommend that one...although the common key in most stove fires in the last 36 months seems to be electric stoves with the smooth tops versus coils. Seems coils are safer.
For better or worse, I was safe two states away traveling for my work. matociquala, K. and all the dogs were a different story.
Fortunately, they are both highly competent - 911 was called, matociquala descended to the basement to cut the power, and K stowed the loose dogs in a bedroom just in time for when the police officer arrived. Within another minute of two the were two fire personnel, no truck, and officer friendly & the first firefighter had the stove mostly out the door before the third respoder got there - the truck arrived about when the stove hit the sideyard.
We now have an informal human/dog evacuation plan in the event of a REAL emergency.
