I know what you mean. There's a woman with a seeing-eye dog here, and seeing the dog makes me really really miss Tucker (the puppy I raised for Pilot Dogs). I mean, I frequently think of Tucker and still cry about him sometimes, even though I gave him back eight years ago. Not having my kitties to cuddle makes it even harder. I want my puppy back. I was telling some people about him, and they were like, "But you know that he's really helping someone!" And I'm like, I was FIFTEEN and he was REALLY HELPING ME. Even my dad said he didn't know how he could have survived his lung surgery had Tucker not been around. Why can't pets be ours forever?
Oh man, I bet. Fortunately he'll be totally psyched to see you and you won't have to do serious apologizing to him, like I'll have to do for my cats. I told them I'd be gone for over a week (which usually seems to help), but I'll still have to do some serious sucking up when I get home. Oh, and will I ever suck up.
Don't people know that learning is hard to do without our animal companions?
