Here's What happened:

On Saturday night, Daph had a slight fever. In the middle of the night she was being fussy and wouldn't nurse (highly unusual.) On Sunday morning, I noticed ( Read more... )

Ugh, that sounds so horrible! I can't imagine how bad poor Daphne must feel, but at least you're there for her.

What the heck do they think is going on with her?

an abcess under the skin? Cellulitis? Basically a deep, subdermal infection in her neck - they think it could have possibly stemmed from a lymph node. Every doctor that we talk to says something different.

HATE hospitals./

Wow, that totally sucks that no-one seems certain about what's going on! I really hope that they're able to find some answers and get her feeling better soon.

I also meant to say that those metal hospital cribs are HORRIBLE! Dallen and Tayne had a hospital stay together a few years back when they were little and they had Tayne in one of those cribs. It was awful. Dallen got a bed in the same room, which was nice, and I got the most uncomfortable chair ever to sleep in. It was a horrible experience, what with not being able to take Tayne out of the crib because of the wires and cords he was attached to, and especially with the team of doctors and nurses coming in and out constantly checking on them and taking blood. I really hate hospitals too, especially when it involves a sick child!

Hang in there. *hug*

Oh wow ...... my previous reply to you prompted me to look back in my LJ and figure out when it was that Dallen and Tayne ended up in the hospital. Turns out that it was exactly 2 years ago yesterday that we started the day off with an ambulance ride to the ER and wound up in the pediatric ICU. How .... bizarre. o_O

That all sounds so awful. I hope things turn around soon. I've often wondered what would happen logistically with a cosleeping baby in the hospital.. It's so nice to read that you fought and won.

I remember the cage cribs when Cass was at Children's. I think she spent all of 3 hours in it while she slept off the morphine. And it kinda terrified me to see her in it-as soon as she was awake I bugged the nurses until they let her rest with me in the lounger. I mean, constant bugging, like every 10 minutes. But after that she slept on the Mommalounger until we left.

entire cast of Greys Anatomy, House, Scrubs and ER
OMG that got me laughing, we had the same thing. I had maybe 2 minutes of warning one morning before 654 people waltzed into the room at 5:30am to wake her up and bother and poke examine her. I scared a few medical students with the Doom Stare.

omg. when I was pushing Luna, there was a HUGE team because they expected her to be not breathing. I was like, 'oh hey awesome, see my vag?'

Last night, a nurse wandered in and drew blood from Daphne's fingertip before waking either of us up. NICE. Always cool to wake up to mega screaming in your face.

'oh hey awesome, see my vag?'

OMG CAN'T STOP LAUGHING. Devon is trying to nap!

She didn't wake you? Did you bitch slap her for it? I had a nurse telling me she needed Cass's diaper so I had to change her this moment. (Apparently the planet was going to fall out of alignment otherwise.) It was 3something a.m. and the first thing out of my mouth was: 'Can I sit up first??' (Sleeping flat on my back with Cass on me.)

But at least there was a shift change shortly and I had a lovely male Asian nurse named Gilbert. Word.

Oh God, poor poor baby! But at least you're an awesome advocate for her and making sure her needs are met properly, instead of just whatever the heck the doctors and nurses say.

While we're on the doctors-suck topic, what has happened with poor Luna's not-a-UTI? Is she feeling better?

I have officially decided that you and your family are not allowed to be sick for the rest of the winter. Seriously, you guys have filled your quota. Post a note on the door and tell the germs to turn around and bug someone else.

Hugs to you.
