The annoying family members don't get any better when you're engaged. The worst are the friends of your future in-laws who only know you as "the fiance of my friend's kid." Your conversations with these people will only involve wedding details. The nice ones will ask how the planning is going. They'll smile politely and never offer advice. The pushy ones will tell you about that great wedding in Omaha they went to with the 1980's Prom theme. It never occurred to these people that my life was not defined by what color Nikki picked for the bridesmaid dresses.

Besides, a few years after you're married, they'll be asking for kids. Despite Nathan's "lack of ammo" they will undoubtedly offer you free medical advice concerning the ability of modern medicine to impregnate you at the drop of a hat. This is why I'm working on becoming estranged from my family. It just makes life run smoother.
