Thread #3

Who: Harry and Draco, again + Voldie
Where: Around
When: After cleverly formatted plot, a few hours after the previous thread

When Harry woke up, it was to the sound of his heart beating rapidly. That was odd. He'd thought your heart was supposed to slow down when you were asleep. Had he been asleep? It wouldn't be the first time he'd come to in a corridor... well, the floor was definitely stone. He opened his eyes to see a stone wall. Corridor theory confirmed. He swallowed, and winced in pain, reaching for his throat. Was it bruised? How did it get that way?

Memory seeped in as if through a seive. He groaned as he remembered the exchange between him and Ginny earlier. He'd been half out of his mind... what had happened at the end? He couldn't remember how it had ended. He had to find her, make sure she was okay.

He rolled over, gave out a strangled cry and drew away, feeling his back thump against the wall.

Ginny was lying there, her eyes closed. Her face was bruised, and her arm was sitting at an odd angle. How, how could this be happening? He pinched himself hard on the forearm - it was a nightmare, it had to be another nightmare - but nothing happened. He crawled back over to her and gingerly touched her forehead. It was clammy. There was blood in her hair. Heart pounding he put his fingers to her nose, heaving a sigh of relief as he felt a slight breeze of breath. "Ginny?" he whispered, then again, louder, "Ginny? Can you hear me? Wake up, please..."

She didn't wake up, and he was afraid to shake her, or even really touch her, unless he hurt her even more. Eventually he decided he didn't have a choice, and, with some effort, lifted her deadweight into his arms. It was difficult, but he didn't trust himself with magic, either.

It seemed like a long, long journey to the hospital wing, though it was only three corridors and one flight of stairs. There was no one in there when he entered, so he lay Ginny down gently on one of the beds and ran to Madam Pomfrey's door, hammering on it. She came out within seconds. "Mr. Potter? What - ?"

"Ginny's hurt."

She ran past him, waving her wand over the still body with rapid precision. "What happened?" she asked, as various smoky images resembling bones and muscles appeared in the air before her. Harry couldn't think of anything to say to that. He backed away, wanting and yet not wanting to be near Ginny if she woke up - though from the look on Pomfrey's face this wasn't likely anytime soon. "Mr. Potter?" she insisted.

"It was my fault," Harry said, his mind a blank. "Is she okay?"

"Mr. Potter - "

He didn't want to hear that she wasn't going to be all right. Ron had to know. And their parents. And then he had to get as far away as possible, so he couldn't hurt anyone else.

He ran, heading for Gryffindor tower.
