Who: The Odd Couple of Hogwarts.
Where: Casa Voldemort.
When: The day after Harry's capture.
What: Draco needs someone to talk to.

Draco knew he had slept. He'd crawled into bed, blacked out, and opened his eyes to find the room sunny and his sheets twisted and tangled almost beyond recognition. But he didn't feel rested in the slightest. He didn't remember any nightmares, but he was sure he'd had a few. Pansy, who'd been surprised and a little distant ever since he came back alive, had tried to make him talk about it but he wouldn't. He felt miserable. That was all there was to say.

News of Potter's disappearance had reached most of the school by breakfast, and as Draco had predicted there were many explanations given, most of them involving the misfortune that befell the Weasley girl in some way. Nobody had yet asked him for his opinion on the matter, which, considering his reputation as Harry's nemesis, worried him a little. It was as if people were avoiding him on purpose. Draco dearly hoped he was just imagining things.

He'd been able to get away after his second class of the day. Voldemort was preoccupied and only half-listened to Draco's report. But the fact that nobody at Hogwarts seemed the wiser pleased him, and the Malfoy heir was able to leave his presence without enduring any punishment. But he did not use the pendant immediately. Some part of him compelled Draco to go to the dark little room where Potter was being kept behind bars. Just to gloat, he told himself, pushing open the door.
