Chris, I'm drowning in my own pessimism about our country and the whole freakin' world. Just wanna run away to Vermont or New Zealand or something and just plant my own garden and hide from the rest of it.
The one thing that's probably keeping me sane right now is that I've forsworn cable for the time being, and therefore am not being flooded with this nonsense. I can tell by the type and number of stories on the wires that this must simply be an endless chum for the pundit hours, though. I've had the opportunity to talk sense into a few people, though, so that's nice. Most of them seem to believe it's literally at Ground Zero, like to the point of being a feature of the new site. Unbelievable.
From the cable chatterbox I've restricted myself, mostly, to Rachel Maddow. she's smart, and snarky too which is a hoot, but even she can't resist jumping into the echo chamber, even if it's just to refute, with real facts. but then you see that Fox sweeps the ratings, and we smartypants are in a pathetic minority. so depressing. wtf.
