Somewhere in the Nexus, a Botan sighs. The sun shines brightly, and the birds chirp. It's a truly beautiful day. But for some reason, Botan can't concentrate on the sun or the melody of the birds. Botan jumps a bit. "Ah!" She didn't realize she had company until too late, something that she of all people should know is not the best way to keep alive.

"Oh, hello Gaara! Long time no see!" If there's one thing she can do, it's change moods on a dime. Whatever strange look was on her face before is now a pleased smile.

"It's-it's...I've been intrusted with something very important.."

Gaara seems just as stoic as ever, though there is a small hint of a smile there. "Long time indeed. Will you tell me more about what it is you need to do?"

Her smile, though much more than a hint, is strained. "Well, Koenma-sama has finally assigned me a solo mission. I'll be going undercover without Yuusuke's or anyone's help. It's something I've been working for a long time. But it's harder than I thought."

Poor Gaara. He's not used to being dragged around by energetic young girls. Well, seemingly young, anyway. And it's not like he really minds.

He just drinks down the last of his tea quickly (when you live in a desert, you don't waste fluids) and follows her, having no clue what she's on about.

The midway must be the heart of the carnival, because there's plenty going on here. All sorts of games (most likely rigged), from shooting fake rifles and throwing baseballs and darts to strength meters. Also, there are prizes. Stuffed animals, posters, all kinds of junk, even fish and rabbits!

Botan rolls up her sleeves.

At first, Botan is shocked at the contact, but quickly realizes what's happening. She kisses back gently, shifting her position so Gaara can have better access at a more comfortable angle. Her own hands go back to cradle his head.

Her lips smile against his as she feels his emotions. There's a warm swelling in her chest that she's never felt before, and it's hard to believe that this one man caused it.

She deepens the kiss slightly, inviting him to do the same if he wishes.

While Gaara doesn't know what he's doing, he's also a quick learner. Not to mention guided by instict. He follows Botan's que, and deepens the kiss.

That's when it all bursts forward; all the loneliness and hurt and longing, and the desperation not to go back to that lonely place again. The kiss deepens further.

Moving over to the ledge, she grabs some body wash. She gets some for herself, then throws him the bottle. "Don't forget to wash behind your ears!"
