Am I being overly sensitive?

is anyone else horrified by the lyrics of that new Eminem song with Rhianna?
Specifically:
Told you this is my fault
Look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed
I'll aim my fist
At the dry wall
Next time
There will be no next time
I apologize
Even though I know it's lies
I'm tired of the games
I just want her back
I know I'm a liar

I find there is a lot of songs out there that mention things we don't really hear until we actually really listen to what they are saying.

Maybe it's like acting in a horrific movie and they really don't mean what they're saying? Not that it's obvious.

you're probably right.
I think it is just worse knowing that Eminem has a known history of abusing his wife and Rhianna has a known history of being abused...

It is in bad taste.

That said, I just read this interview with him and he talks about how he tries to write shocking songs, "rhyming to shock people" and, "how much fucked up shit can I say?"

It isn't a very responsible or mature way of getting attention, that's for sure!

I don't exactly agree with the idea of a kid being influenced by this song specifically. Again, a lot of mainstream songs are pretty shitty, with the women singing about being obsessive, simpering fuckwits, and men singing about being obsessive, stalking fuckwits. Coz that's what passes for love.

Despite the fact they're catchy as all hell. :)

I think I get more sensitive about this stuff because I have a 6 year old nephew who can recite every top 40 song from beginning to end. Imagine a 6 year old singing this like "it ain't no thang"
Disturbing!
