My own belief is that a campus-wide newspaper should reflect the goings-on of the campus, including student life. BUT they also need to keep who reads their column in mind. While the column by Pixie is distasteful, the student population/editor seems to think that whoever reads the paper actually wants to hear what she has to say. If their readership didn't then she would most likely not be writing a column in that paper. That is if the editor and people running the paper have business ethics...and if that paper is even a business to begin with.
I can tell you that the FAU newspaper was a lot more professional than that and reminded me a lot more of regular town newspaper...but for the FAU campuses only. Admittingly I have only read two of FAU's school newspapers cover to cover and a few articles here and there so I may be wrong.
