Sadly, America has lost one of her last TRUE conservative leaders, I heard William F. Buckley had died this morning at age 82 or 83 (depending on your source). I always admired Mr. Buckley even from a young age when I watched him debate Gore Vidal on Television. In my recent curiosity and flirtation with conservative thinkers, after being so turned off by the hard left (but not quite knowing what to do about that), I have been reading around, on the web and off. I have looked at his ideas, but not a whole lot. I agree though that he was one of the most thoughtful, intellectually adroit, witty, and articulate conservatives -- definitely from another time. Who is like him now?

I will have to check his stuff out more thoroughly. It helps to know what people are saying, or what they have said and written, whether you agree or not. In any event, he really did have a distinguished career and lived a long life. I remember his TV show when I was a kid.

He was the sort of guy, I could enjoy his writing even when I didn't agree with him. Also, he reminds me of Shere Khan from Disney's version of the Jungle Book in this snippet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEIrZO069Kg
