Dear Yuletide Writer 2015!
Writer, whoever you are, I'm sure you're going to make my Yuletide magical!
Bear in mind that everything short of my DNWs are really just suggestions so if you have a totally different idea then go for it - I'm pretty sure that if you write something you enjoy, I'll enjoy it more than if you try to write something you hate just because I mentioned it here.
Also, I really do love all these fandoms and would be equally happy to get fic in any of them.
General things that I like:
- wit, verbal teasing and banter
- intelligence and competence
- continuations of canon, or pre-canon backstory
- het/slash/femslash - all absolutely fine! No issues with gen either if that's what you prefer to write
- anything from PWPs to plotty casefic through shades of everything in between
- generally, ratings Teen or higher (whether that's due to sexual content, language or the nature of the plot...)
- horror, if the fandom lends itself to it - go as dark and unsettling as you like as long as you don't hit my DNWs as below - I only have a few!
- canon-divergent AUs, fix-it, time loops, Pacific Rim fusions (don't judge me!)
- crossovers, whether or not the fandoms actually make sense together - I like cracky crossovers as much as sensible ones
General things that I don't like:
- pure fluff (which isn't to say I don't like happy endings)
- weepy, endless, woe-filled angst - PTSD, alcoholism, etc. all fine, just not woe-is-me let-me-expire-miserably-alone-in-a-corner drama
- open relationships or threesomes, unless specified
- gender swap or non-canon crossdressing
- mundane AUs played straight (so no Very Serious Coffee Shop fic, for example, but done tongue-in-cheek is fine)
- epithets - "The blonde told the scientist that epithets would throw the Yuletide requester right out of the fic."
- 2nd person POV - I have a preference for 3rd unless it's epistolary fic
Hard Do Not Wants:
- kids, pregnancy (including mpreg) or anything child-related: please don't!
- A/B/O, slave or D/s lifestyle AUs
- humiliation kink

FANDOM REQUESTS
The Following
Requested characters: Joe Carroll, Ryan Hardy
The Following is like crack, I swear. It makes precious little sense but if you suspend disbelief and take it as a cross between satire and a strange sort of dark comedy, it's absolutely epic. I'm actually a little sad that it's now ended.
What I like here is that Joe's a total nutcase and Ryan's not that far off himself (maybe he actually gets there at the end of season 3!). Their general dynamic of hurting each other but never actually managing to kill each other is oddly intriguing, the banter's amusing and I love that Joe's essentially a pantomime villain - I half expect "he's behind you!" at any second. It should probably also tell you something that my favourite episode in the whole thing is in season 3 where Ryan lets Joe take him hostage in the prison before his execution.
I enjoy slash in this fandom, the darker and kinkier and more problematic in terms of their screwed up relationship the better, but if that's not your thing then a case-related teamup would likewise be joyous - doesn't need to be hugely plotty, but character interaction between these two here is my thing! Either that or post-show Ryan continuing to hallucinate Joe as he tries to bring down Eliza's organisation, or maybe Joe's miraculously not dead. The remark Joe makes about them being soulmates is also quite literally the only time a soulmate AU (whether romantic or platonic) has ever really appealed to me, too.
For supporting cast, I do also enjoy the fact that Mike's not-so-slowly turning into Ryan, and hints of Ryan/Mike slash (and more than hints) are fine by me as long as it's not overly cheerful happy-ever-after fluff. Word of warning: I'm not a huge fan of Claire. I much prefer Max and Emma and any of the female FBI agents, if you're going to involve the ladies. The ladies are awesome.
Pre- or post-show are equally fine by me, I'm more than happy to read missing scenes from any point during any of the three seasons (or make it a canon-divergent AU if you like - I'm more or less up for anything involving these two). I'd actually be fine with mundane AUs here if you really want to go there, as long as they're still recognisable and it hints to Joe and Ryan's interesting proclivities. Crossovers: the obvious and totally Yuletide-ineligible ones would be Hannibal or Criminal Minds, but small fandoms like Copycat or anything serial-killery or FBI-ish could work!

Olympus Has Fallen

I love the over-the-top actionness of this film. I love Aaron Eckhart and Gerard Butler boxing, I love the suits, I love Aaron Eckhart being stoic and presidential, I love Gerard Butler running around with a gun, I love the general badassery and explosions and the fact that even though it's all guns and loud noises, it somehow manages to look grown up and restrained next to White House Down (and I say that as someone who also enjoyed White House Down!).
If you matched on this one wanting to write gen or het, please go gen! Please, please go gen. I promise I won't be disappointed with good gen (which is true for all fandoms here). I'd like to see the two of them dealing with fallout from the movie's events, getting back to normality as best they can, and how this affected them (and the country or international politics, if you're particularly inclined!). I'd like to know how the rest of Asher's presidency turned out, if he stood for a second term (and if he got it), and I'd like see the two of them interact, perhaps ending up friends.
If you're okay with slash, I would love slash here - I got fic in this fandom last year and it just made me want more! I want it to be hot and sticky and awkward and urgent and verging on painful but they just can't help it. I want them to take their frustrations out on each other post-movie, get confused by it, maybe work things out or maybe just keep going round in frustrated circles because they just can't communicate. If you can come up with a plot (pre-empting the events of London Has Fallen? Sending them to another continent? Asher running for a second term? Whatever you like!) then brilliant, but go PWP and I won't complain for a second.

Tango and Cash

I love the banter in this one. I love that they're both such good cops though they're from different neighbourhoods and probably different backgrounds, and they're not that far away from each other in terms of personality when it comes down to it.
If you're here for gen, it's really the antagonistic, bantering, us-(reluctantly-)against-the-world relationship with bonus grudging respect that I'm here for. Maybe they head off on a follow-up zany adventure after the film or one transfers to the other's precinct and they (reluctantly) have to work together. Maybe they end up unlikely friends, or maybe Kiki makes them both sit down to dinner with her or go see her dance, which could not bode well.
If you're up for slash, I'd absolutely love Tango/Cash! Maybe Kiki goes away as a backing dancer on a pop tour and the two of them end up commiserating over drinks and bad TV. Maybe one of them transfers away and they don't meet again until years later but there's something there. Maybe an AU where they don't break out to clear their names and have to rebuild their lives once they get out of prison while somehow maintaining their sense of humour. Maybe an AU where they met in the military or, hey, Pacific Rim AU ;)
I like Kiki but I'd prefer she and Cash didn't get together after the film, or at least not on a permanent basis. And if they do get together and split up, I'd definitely prefer it to be mostly amicable. Crossovers: anything actiony, essentially, but I'd be highly entertained if the two of them encountered John McClane.
Escape Plan

This film just looks like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger decided they wanted to work together again and came up with a film whose basic premise seems to be Sly and Arnie Have Fun. I really enjoyed Arnie ranting in German, Jim Caviezel made a great bad guy, Sam Neill played conflicted quite well and oh, Vinnie Jones... one day you'll play a likeable character but until you do, bad guys are awesome. I don't have as much to say about it as my other requests but that's not because I like it any less.
I'd kind of like to see the two of them meet again after the escape, whether that's another escape, some kind of bizarre caper connected to Rottmayer/Mannheim's business or just sitting down for coffee. I'm interested in whether Ray keeps up the prison work after the escape, or maybe he decides to do something else. Maybe he goes to work for Mannheim. Maybe they end up captured again but this time it's some sort of Battle Royale/The Condemned-type fight to the death scenario. Maybe they just get together from time to time for no particular reason at all except they reluctantly understand each other. Team-up fic is good. Backstory about what happened with Ray's dead family is good.
Unsurprisingly, I'm interested in slash as well as gen here! I'm also interested in crossovers or weird fusions - characters from Olympus Has Fallen, The Following, The Expendables in an inescapable prison? Works for me.
Tombstone
Requested characters: Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday
While I know this film isn't the most historically accurate ever made, it's nonetheless one of my favourite films ever and a big part of that is Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. It's the sort of tragic and doomed thing he has going on, the addictions he has and the fact that he has a sense of humour (and cutting wit!) despite all of that, but then also the odd sort of loyalty that Doc has for Wyatt, and the line about Wyatt being his friend (and he doesn't have a lot of friends). The end of this film with Doc in the sanitarium and Wyatt visiting is ALL THE FEELS for me.
I'm completely happy with gen here involving maybe the time they met, a past joint endeavour, something in the gap between the Vendetta Ride and the end of the film, ensemble fic with all the brothers plus Doc... or then there's the slash angle. I'd definitely be happy with Doc/Wyatt slash that's dusty and messy and fraught and regrettable (or not), with miscommunication and snark but their friendship still being intact in the end, or just with something that acknowledges the extent of their friendship that drives Doc to leave Kate and join Wyatt and co on the Vendetta Ride.
I've seen both the regular cut and director's cut of the film so feel free to include details from either, or indeed from history!

The Expendables

This is a wonderful, wonderful fandom and I love it dearly for all its in-jokes and bad movie references. I love that so many of them have worked together before or have worked together after and the fact that they all seemed to have an absolutely amazing time making the films!
Now, I should point out that I've seen every film Jason Statham has ever been in, plus the majority of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Gibson and Van Damme films. I love cheesy 80s and 90s action flicks and if you're of the same mind and want to write a totally looney crossover, please, have at it! Expendables + Die Hard? Brill! Expendables + Commando? Amazing. Riggs joins the Expendables? Galgo turns out to be a gun-toting ex-mariachi? Christmas has a twin who happens to be the assassin from The Mechanic or Deckard Shaw from Furious 7? Amazing! Expendables + Timecop, Predator or Demolition Man? Y'know, I'd probably love that. Or bring in the characters they all mentioned in an interview for E3: Rambo, Blade, the paranoid guy from Conspiracy Theory and the gnome Jason Statham played in Gnomeo and Juliet!
More seriously: Lee and Barney I absolutely adore for their banter and old-married-coupleness. I love slash for these two, but even without a sexual relationship they're pretty clearly very good friends and Lee obviously feels betrayed with Barney leaves with the younger guys in E3. Something about them rebuilding trust after that would be great, as would backstory about how they met; really, anything that plays on that loyalty and trust they seem to have would be amazing.
If you don't have any issues with slash, I'm very much into that. I'm happy with them both having previous same-sex experience, but I'd like first time fic for them if that's a possibility; I think the friendship suddenly bubbling over into something unexpected with pushing and shoving and swearing and potentially Lee's knives involved would be delightful. Playing on the age difference with these two is something I really like.
If you're not into Barney/Lee but do want to write slash in this fandom, I'd definitely read Barney/Stonebanks, Barney/Galgo, Barney/Gunner or Lee/Gunner. I love the whole team but I do have a soft spot for Gunner so no more-than-canon bashing the Swede, please!

I love cheesy 80s and 90s action flicks and if you're of the same mind and want to write a totally looney crossover, please, have at it! Expendables + Die Hard? Brill! Expendables + Commando? Amazing. Riggs joins the Expendables? Galgo turns out to be a gun-toting ex-mariachi? Christmas has a twin who happens to be the assassin from The Mechanic or Deckard Shaw from Furious 7? Amazing! Expendables + Timecop, Predator or Demolition Man? Y'know, I'd probably love that. Or bring in the characters they all mentioned in an interview for E3: Rambo, Blade, the paranoid guy from Conspiracy Theory and the gnome Jason Statham played in Gnomeo and Juliet!
More seriously: Lee and Barney I absolutely adore for their banter and old-married-coupleness. I love slash for these two, but even without a sexual relationship they're pretty clearly very good friends and Lee obviously feels betrayed with Barney leaves with the younger guys in E3. Something about them rebuilding trust after that would be great, as would backstory about how they met; really, anything that plays on that loyalty and trust they seem to have would be amazing.
If you don't have any issues with slash, I'm very much into that. I'm happy with them both having previous same-sex experience, but I'd like first time fic for them if that's a possibility; I think the friendship suddenly bubbling over into something unexpected with pushing and shoving and swearing and potentially Lee's knives involved would be delightful. Playing on the age difference with these two is something I really like.
If you're not into Barney/Lee but do want to write slash in this fandom, I'd definitely read Barney/Stonebanks, Barney/Galgo, Barney/Gunner or Lee/Gunner. I love the whole team but I do have a soft spot for Gunner so no more-than-canon bashing the Swede, please!
