Why can't you just leave us alone?

So yeah... after yesterday's defeat in Maine I'm just like... "WTF?" Why are people so hateful? We're not hurting anyone. We just want to be equal. We just want to be like everyone else and share in the over 1000 legal rights that everyone else can have. I just don't understand.
