Squirrel SQL 3.1 and Windows 7

Apr 30, 2010 06:44

Anybody ever tried to install Squirrel SQL 3.1 client on Windows 7? Initially I couldn't even get it to install - but managed to by running a command window "As Administrator" and then executing the jar install file. However, when I try to run the program I'm getting "Could not find the main class: Files. Program will exit."

Thoughts?

Have you tried installing Squirrel 7 on Windows 3.1?

Actually, what I have read is that Windows 7 doesn't allow data to be stored in the program files directory only static program files. Check all your file paths to store data to another directory.

The install runs fine - it's when the program runs I get the error message. I've screwed around with the squirrel.bat file to make JAVA_HOME point to the right place, but to no avail. I finally gave up and installed WinSQL instead. It's a sucky program, but it works for what I need it to do. I also gave up trying to run MySQL / PHP / Apache on my new linux laptop and trying to access it from my Windows 7 box. I just installed everything on Windows 7. I ended up spending too much time setting everything up and not enough on actual development.
