I'm told I don't post here enough...I just haven't been feeling very communicative lately. Stress makes me withdraw to a great extent, and if anyone really wanted to hear from me I apologise ( Read more... )

Haha.. you've read the bible so you have groupies. Welcome to the bible belt! If you sleep with your bible down here, you automatically have a clique of 'cool kids'. Which is directly against Jesus' teaching, by the by. Jesus would hang out with kids like me :)

Yes, but I occasionally mock it.

I'm very fond of the bible, really!

As much as I try to convince myself that it's not true, that things aren't really that bad, I'm regularly forced to the conclusion that most people really are very stupid.

"The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of human stupidity." -- Voltaire

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe." -- Albert Einstein

"The two most common things in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity." -- Harlan Ellison

"There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life." -- Frank Zappa

"There are more fools in the world than there are people." -- Heinrich Heine

"Never underestimate the power of human stupidity." -- Robert Heinlein

"It's because they're stupid. That's why everyone does everything." - Homer Simpson

...obviously many great thinkers (Homer Simpson!) have been acquainted with my philosophy class.

I've heard most of those before, but they're so true!

My housemate is doing a degree in Ethics and, two years into the course, one of his classmates complained (apparently quite seriously) that "I thought we were going to be doing ethics, but all we've done so far is moral philosophy."

I missed a good one out of my quotes actually: "You know how dumb the average guy is? Well, mathematically, by definition, half of them are ever dumber than that." J.R. Bob Dobbs

None of which is meant to belittle your own intellectual prowess of course. As somebody else said in this thread, don't sell yourself short. You rock.

*blush*:)

And I know people capable of making that ethics remark.

Weekend meetings and the editing of really terrible articles. I'd post the worst of them here, but that'd be mean.

At first, I was going to urge you to post them anyway, but then I decided that we all see enough terrible writing without actively seeking it out.

I'm NOT that smart, so does that mean I'm just surrounded by people who are very stupid?

Don't sell yourself short. But don't give your classmates too much credit either. At least some of them are certainly stupid. Perhaps most of them.
