Giuliani doesnt have a chance in hell. 9/11 will get people to take notice... but Americans are kinda getting over it and realize there is more to public policy than 9/11.
And thats all Giuliani has got... or at least all he is willing to play.
I really like John McCain. He's the only mainstream Republican candidate who has remained fiscally conservative without pandering to the religious right. I must disagree with slobhero about Giuliani - I really don't think he's popular enough to win the election. Also, he keeps trying to tie every single issue to 9/11, and frankly I think the American public is tired of the politics of fear. We want to hear about something other than terrorism.
Speaking of fear, I am rather alarmed about Huckabee's popularity. But remember that he just won in Iowa, which has more evangelicals than most states. I'm pretty certain he won't win New Hampshire or Michigan.
Prior to the Caucus I thought to myself that maybe he just had high projections and the actual Caucus would turn out to be a little different.
I then asked my sister and her friend if they were excited to vote for President. My sister's friend then proclaimed "Huckabee all the way!" and that if he did not receive the nomination that she hopes someone would put him on as a running mate. I tried not to show my displeasure.
The issue with McCain is, i dont think he is "southern" or enough to win approval from the south. And, of course, Reagan (a God to the Republicans) was not southern.... but I dont seen McCain having the same influence as Reagan. As much as it pains me to say it, i think the Republican Party must bow to the religious right to keep a good deal of supporters.
Oh you kids actually are Republican, thats silly. Not that democrats are much better.
My reasoning behind Giuliani is simply that if Hilary wins the primaries some democrats will be more likely to vote for Giuliani than Hilary. But basically I think the Republicans are fucked either way.
But in a perfect world Kucinich would actually have a chance.
And if anyone mentions Ron Pauls name I will kick them in the face.
