When I saw this post I laughed bitterly, but the laugh soon turned into a congested sort of cough. You see, I am rather ill today.
But YES I AGREE. In my econ lecture today, the girl in front of me was on People.com, reading the latest celebrity gossip, and I simply could not understand why she found Britney's latest escapade so interesting, when there are SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT things going on in the world.
But maybe I'm being presumptious in suggesting that my interests (international affairs) are more important than hers (celebrity gossip). And I'm sure she (and most other gossip-followers) have plenty of other, legitimate interests as well. But I guess I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that people CARE about the details of every celebrity's life, because I find those things really depressing and boring.

A car which the masses in India can afford is bad news, if one cares about breatheable air and greenhouse gas emissions.
