Characters: Mello
Setting: Basement Labs
Time: Day 21, early morning
Summary: Mello draws the short straw this time, and is selected for torture.
Warnings: Misery and fear and raeg and general unpleasantness. Unhappy captive. Graphic torture. That sort of thing. Probably some cursing. Also, crappy OP.

It's like I'm paranoid watching over my back, it's like a whirlwind inside of my head, it's like I can't stop what I'm feeling within, it's like a face inside that's right beneath my skin.... )

Mello very well could have been relieved when the phantasms finally showed up. He hadn't a clue how as to long he'd been in the cell for, but he had a feeling that it had felt as though it was much longer than it actually had been. The past undetermined amount of time had been, to put it quite bluntly, hell.

He knew they had brought him here for a reason; they wanted to fuck with him, just like they'd fucked with everyone else they'd brought down here in the past. He hadn't heard all that much about what the phantasms did to people-- the most he could figure was that this experience would be fucking torturous-- and thus, he wasn't at all sure what to expect that they would do to him. Waiting in terrified sickness and unclear anticipation of what was going to happen had been awful. Although he'd stopped yelling and cursing the situation what had likely been hours ago, to say he had calmed down since they'd first taken him couldn't have been farther from the truth. With every minute that had passed since then, he had grown more ( ... )

Terror defiance, and sarcasm, all reactions the phantasms had plenty of experience being confronted with. Their preferred strategy?

Absolutely no response at all.

Whether or not they had any response to his comments in general was irrelevant; they simply chose not to give it. The emotional volley elicited nothing, neither anger nor hesitation nor even amusement. Even the request was given nothing but silence.

The phantasm simply advanced with chilling relentlessness, steadily backing Mello up until he had nowhere else to go. It reached out to seize him by the arms soon enough, ready to lift and carry him--all of him--by the arms, and allow the rest of his body to remain painfully unsupported dead weight.

"I should've fucking known you wouldn't answer, huh? Isn't like you said anything before."

Mello greatly disliked the phantasms' silence. It left him feeling completely clueless about this whole thing-- not only what they were doing to him now, but everything about having been trapped in the house in general-- and he didn't fucking like it. If he had ever thought he had any idea about what was going on in this place, this had reminded him that it had all been an illusion. He didn't know. He didn't have a clue. Didn't know what the hell was going to happen to him-- not what they were planning on doing now, and not how things would end up for him further down the road.

He kept on stepping back until the phantasm had him cornered against the wall and grabbed him. "Ow-- fuck-- HEY!" Mello hadn't initially planned on fighting them-- he knew it would be entirely worthless to even try-- but he couldn't help but to try and lash out after the thing had begun to carry him by his fucking arms. "What the hell?!" He yelped and gave a ( ... )
