Preacher was there for one very important reason (beyond Malkavian humour)
In RPGs it's very easy to make all NPCs ultimate, and that's really not fair on the players. They're vampires, a group of them no less. A group of active, powerful vampires who gain large amounts of experience because they are so active. It;s not right that every last thing they meet is a near demi-god. At full strength there's 6 of you, there's damn little out there which can take on 6 vampires. Preacher was there to be one of those foes.
Made up for by the ultimate Ghouled aligator (if ye're gonna raise their confidence up, have something else to cut the edge off - heh, the creature is TECHNICALLY mortal).
