Busy weekend...and a proposal to my friends!

May 29, 2006 22:44

Yep, good times this weekend. I shall recap that, and more, in an LJ cut, since I tend to drone on, as everyone knows by now.

Friday night I went to Dave and Buster's with Anita. She wanted to go with me to use the gift card that I so thoughtfully gave her for her birthday last month, haha. It was a lot of fun because: One, I like D & B's, and two, I think it was pretty much a date with Anita. Which was great. I've always liked her. Things went pretty well between the two of us, I think. We definitely both had a good time. If you know what I mean. Lol, kidding, of course...this is ME I'm talking about.

Saturday night, I drove my ass out to Milford for my friend Kari's 27th birthday party. Milford, btw, is waaaay west of Pontiac, out in the boonies. So that was interesting. I had a good time...I liked the little restaurant we went to (Hector and Jimmy's), and I enjoyed the band that played. Calling Marvin. Kari is a groupie. Like, hard core. Lol. She goes to see them all over the place. But they are a cool band. Very laid back...good kinda poppy alternative stuff. And good cover songs too. Haha. Sorta watched the Pistons lose...but the band, and the fact that Kari and her friends were wasted, made it entertaining. It was good times.

Yesterday, went to Lansing. Got to play Uncle and drive Eric, Lucy, and Deacan to Lansing. Baby's first big car trip. He was pretty good, in general, I'd say. Slept the whole way there, pretty much. While at my uncle's house, he was good, too. Slept a lot, actually. And it's always fun to see my family. A lot of people complain about how they hate going to family gatherings, but I always enjoy it. We don't see each other enough, even though most of my dad's family lives roughly in the Lansing area. So in my opinion, there's no good reason we shouldn't all see each other more often. My dad will say, we're all getting older, people have their own families now, i.e. my cousins are all having kids...but hey, I think people should make more effort. I mean, WE'VE always drove an hour and a half to go to Lansing whenever we can. But anyway, it's good to see people. And saw Sally and Tim, too.

Today...I worked. So not much today. But all in all, a fun and busy holiday weekend. And tomorrow, I'm seeing Jillian. I swear, I put so many friggin' miles on my car. And it's all while my car actually needs to go into the shop, haha. I don't think I'm going to kill it again, though.

Pistons are coming back in this game, I guess. That's good. It's still hard for me to really watch a game, b/c of the way basketball is. I mean, generally, you only have to watch like the last 10 minutes of the game anyway...

So. Since I'm a ladies' man, supposedly, as my friends still tell me, I'll give everyone an update on my love life. Haha. Lack of one, actually. Yeah, still haven't even talked to Liz. I should call her. For the heck of it, before she goes to California or wherever. But anyway. I like Anita, and I really can't get Vicki from work out of my mind. I'm going to ask her out. I swear. It's still really, really hard for me to do that. But hey, we know each other alright at this point, so I suppose I shouldn't worry so much. I really want to actually go through with it for once.

My friend Jennette, the SMEA president before Meredith and I, among many other things, now has a book published. I'm jealous. Probably not as jealous as a couple of my friends (i.e. Jillian). I mean, I'm not actively trying to get stuff published or anything...but it's just superhuman how much this girl has accomplished. Was really involved in school before graduation. Big brothers big sisters. A jock who runs friggin' MARATHONS. Lol...well, two so far. And the great thing is: she's actually really fun to talk to. She's cool. She's high-strung, yes, but she's not prissy, or full of herself, or anything. She's great...but definitely always really busy. And she actually got published. I mean, you can go on Amazon and find her book. Crazy stuff. It's a book about the Holocaust, aimed at middle schoolers. I guess her family was personally affected by it. And she's not Jewish...she's Polish Catholic. And no, I didn't realize that Polish Catholics were affected by the Holocaust.

So I ordered it, b/c I'm really interested. And I bet it'll be a great book for students. As well as just informative in general. And she's officially the first person I really know to be published. Haha. I mean, my next door neighbor when I was growing up had a couple of kids' books published. She was an older woman. That was friggin' cool, as a kid, to have actual printed books that your neighbor wrote. And her son got novels published too. But this is a girl that was in the education program at OU, just like me. She's just...you know...not a slacker. Like I am. Haha. But also, a lot of people would think she's insane. In terms of the amount she is able to take on, and succeed in. Makes me feel rather useless. But I'm mostly just really impressed with her.

I'm officially tired of all the damn MySpace spam. Friend requests from people that actually just have profiles that are links to porn sites. This is the newest thing, apparently. And you know they're one of those people without even having to look at their profile. It's just annoying. No, I'm not going to accept your friend request, "Sexxxy." (That was actually one from today.)

I sure do ramble in these LJ entries. That's why I've decided to put most of this in an LJ cut. Because after reading my friend's entry, where she said she'd cut it so she didn't have a long entry on people's friends pages, I realized that's a good idea. I mean, who wants my entry taking up half their friends page?

Well, guess that's plenty for now, haha. I'm off the next two days, which is lovely. Then I work three more days, and I'm on vacation next week. SO NICE. And no, I don't have any plans, I'm just happy that I have a paid vacation from work. Sounds good to me. Speaking of vacation, though...the fact that my vacation week is coming up got me thinking about Cedar Point. I might not go next week, necessarily, but that's what got me really thinking about it. I haven't been in a couple years...and I'm determined to go this summer.

So, who wants to come to Cedar Point with me? I'm serious about this...I want to get a big group of friends together to go. Because that's the real way to do something like Cedar Point. It'll be a lot of fun. I hope I'm able to get at least a few people to come. Hey, it could even be a good way for some of my friends to meet each other, just for the heck of it. Since my friends are all so "spread out"...they don't know each other, and I can only see like one at a time. Haha. Just because that's the way it happens to be. So I want to get a group together!

When? Well, whenever people can get together. I'm on vacation from work next week! It doesn't have to be next week, though...but I want to start planning this now, anyway. I'm determined to actually be the one to set up something like this for a change. Haha. So let me know if you might want to come with me sometime soon. I'd prob. rather go on a weekday, if possible, b/c weekends at CP are ridiculously crowded. In fact, I like to get there when they're first opening. It works best that way, I think.

Something that got tossed around yesterday...though it won't necessarily happen..is that if my sister and her bf come, my bf's house is only like 40 min. from CP. Not exactly next door, I know, but it's at least pretty close compared to having to come home again that day. And then people could crash if they wanted to. I dunno.

So I want to do this...and why not soon? It'll be good times. More on CP soon, I hope....
