To me, WAFF is an onomatopoeia.

what the hell IS the difference between yaoi and slash? I just thought it was two words for one thing: m/m relationship...

Someone once told me that slash was the western equivalent of yaoi. For example, Harry Potter featuring m/m would be called "Harry Potter slash" not "Harry Potter yaoi".

In fact, I seem to remember a rant on fanficrants about someone using "yaoi" in a Harry Potter fic summary.

::ponders Bagel's words:: I vaguely remember seeing slash in warnings more often with real-life people involved, now that I REALLY think hard. So...maybe that's a little bit of the difference?

I had to turn off my 'watch' for fanficrants because people complained so much I couldn't find anything that my friends wrote on LJ.
