hmmm i never heard about that, but if so then i do think the school should take action against megan (whoever that is) for harassing hilary. ay sus this is getting so complicated!
that is a really good point about everyone sympathizing with her, but i'm sure that it had bigger effects with her parents with the suspension even though it didn't have many social consequences.
i worry that some people's parents would side with their children rather than the school because they a) don't hear the full story from their kid or b) don't like the idea of other people punishing their kids. i'm not saying her parents did that, but yeah it happens sometimes.
got nothing but R-E-S-P-E-C-T my dear. i guess people were just walking up to her and saying things like "bitch" though. i protested with the "free hilary" because of the suspension...because to me it was insulting that slander held nearly the same gravity as drunkenness and well, other more scary things mainly...so i think we are in agreement on that! I REFUSE to let myself be insulted is how i look at it. it has taken a lot of practice...(thanks dad!) but I just WON'T let myself be insulted. Ian Coe told me he believed the rumor...I said "ok" and finished my conversation with someone else. I feel invincible!!! Try somebody! TRY to hurt my feelings! :)
"and if someone is making it so that i (and six other girls) feel that school is no longer a safe environment, then the school needs to step in"
that's EXACTLY how i feel about the situation. I felt like defending the administration's involvement in this issue and this is the argument i was trying to make, but you said it really well.
the other part of your opinion that i strongly agree with is the idea that in the ideal lakeside this kind of behavior would not be tolerated in the first place. worse than reading hilary's entry (which i think she has apologized very well for) was seeing that at first other kids had no objection to it.
i just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one who thinks this way. sorry, i have to be anonymous or this would get too messy
it's all right that you're anonymous i have no problems with it. but i do think that if you firmly believe what you're saying then you shouldn't have problems putting your name behind it. but yeah whatever, its too bad that you have to worry about the repercussions at all. did i spell that right? agh i dunno.
and i'm glad people agree with me, its annoying when you feel like no one else is on your side. except, you know, the administration.
No, don't feel that way!! I'm on your side of course, if there are sides! I just make myself feel bad if I focus too much on the bad. So I may over-do the forgive and forget thing, but it's what makes me happy. I don't mean to be picking the other side though :)
dah you misunderstand me! i am fully forgiving her, but i'm just saying that it seems like all of the student body was for freeing hilary and so it seemed like no one else felt like lakeside was within their rights.
Hey, I also agree with you/adminstration, and as the person above/you said, I've also found it difficult to be on that side, since it seems like 99% of the people I've been around since Thursday have either been dissing the decision or showing off the t-shirts/arm bands (not meant to be insulting). Even though I usually find no trouble in voicing my opinions, I agree it's been hard in this case. Hmmm, I'm sort of starting to feel like this comment is pointless, but I guess I just want to say that you're definitely not alone and I admire you for communicating what you've been thinking, because I've had trouble doing the same. I think you made a lot of great points up there--yay for Caitlin! :) --Kay
KAY!!! you're ubercool! (not because of what you wrote, because you're kay!)
i'm glad you agree with me, cos you weren't one of the people that were written about so that means that you are way unbiased compared to me. so that makes me feel like i'm not so alone! yay!
