Just out of curiosity, have you seen a movie called "Merlin's Apprentice"? It's not got the same backstory as your fic, but it's similar.

Even if she believed Morgana was still alive, she may have sided with their enemy (in truth, Gwen and Merlin both sometimes wonder in their darker moments whether Morgana had been the one who helped their enemy into the castle).
Lovely. It will be interesting to see how Morgana, with her potentially darker brand of magic, fits in with the overall feel of the show in the later episodes - and one aspect of this, of course, is how the people around her handle it.

Arthur has a lot riding on his shoulders even when he's kidnapped, poor guy! Still, I'm sure he knows that and is fighting his way back to whatever he can find.

I like your description of the magical blue orb - it's familiar to us, as viewers, when you describe it but I see how it could be weird for Gwen.

The light from the orb is an eerie blue that creates an unnatural glow about the path through the cave now apparent to them;

Thank you! - I hadn't heard of that film actually, but I'm curious now I shall look it up. I've always wanted Gwen to find out about Merlin's magic, but while I do feel she'll understand why he never said anything, she is a bit wary of magic in general.

Very interesting. I liked how the people are still looking to Arthur even if he isn't there. Loved how Merlin stepped up and was willing to do whatever was necessary. Good job with this.
