[adding lemon to his tea]

Be careful, it's still sharp.

[well, I'm probably smiling more, if that helps]

Extra sugar, Mr. Ridgely?

[... Kind-of? I keep having this song about why you don't smile at crocodiles getting stuck in my head for some reason...]

Oh, well, sure! Thank-you. I don't usually have much of a sweet tooth, but this is a unique blend.

[I have no idea what you're talking about. Is it modern? And passing you the sugar bowl.]

One of the cooks recommended it to me.

I see you are working hard to reclaim this office from squalor, and I must say that you are doing a marvelous job of it, Doctor Yuriev.

[sips tea~]

I admit, it feels rather like an archeology project, constructing things in such an outdated mode. But so rewarding, in a way.

Living here presents a unique opportunity for study, and I have found that learning is always rewarding. There are so many different ways to achieve the same end, aren't there? One might wipe a floor with a cloth on hands and knees, or put that cloth at the end of a pole and clean a bit more comfortably, or tie twigs to the pole and sweep, or utilize a push-vacuum, or even buy a small robot which vacuums for you . . . but the end is the same; a clean floor.

A broom has served me best, here. Simple, but easily acquired. And the visible result feels so much more satisfying, this way.
